Calix Gustav Gallery is pleased to announce it will open its doors on October 10, 2009, for its opening exhibition reception as part of the Wynwood Art District's Second Saturday Gallery Walk.The reception for "MAFIART" will take place at the gallery from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Located in the thriving Wynwood Arts District at 98 NW 29th St, Calix Gustav Gallery is a brand new woman-owned gallery seeking to offer a unique opportunity in the Miami art scene.

The exhibition's namesake, "MAFIART", is a light installation by French artist Klaus Guingand, which will be featured at the opening. Also on view will be works by up and coming artists Judith Gilmer, Chris Chavers, Janet M. Mueller, Michael Lindabury and Lazaro Amaral. In addition to the large light installation, this exhibition presents a full range of mediums, including oil on resin, prints, silkscreens and sculpture. The exhibtion revolves around the theme of the elitist nature of the art world, fame, and the emotional implications of these concepts. We invite you to join us for this exciting and refreshing art-fuelled evening.

"MAFIART" will run Oct 10- Nov 21, 2009. Regular gallery visiting hours are Tuesday-Friday 11AM-6PM and Saturday 12PM-5PM. Special Art Walk times are on the last Thursday of the month from 6PM-8PM, and the second Saturday of every month from 7PM-10PM.
