Cuba: The Natural Beauty features dramatic large format photographs by Clyde Butcher, Dean of Florida photographers.
Butcher's spectacular images were made during an expedition sponsored by the United Nations which provided unfettered access to all parts of the island nation.
His photographs of places rarely seen by visitors as well as poignantly familiar vistas are stunning in their drama and scale. They show the wide diversity of Cuba's natural areas, many as pristine now as they were when first seen by explorers centuries ago.
Clyde Butcher is recognized nationally as the foremost artist working in the tradition of the great landscape photographers. He has been the subject of PBS features and has received numerous awards for his work as an artist and for the Everglades. His photographs are on permanent display at airports, museums and in Florida's Capitol building.
The opening events for the exhibition include a slide lecture by the artist about his Cuba expedition followed by a reception and book signing for his Cuba book.
Both the lecture and reception are open to the public. Reservations are required for both.
