Artists, who trained at Florida International University’s art program, are prevalent in our nation’s museums, schools and colleges. Some are winners of many art awards, art professors; others have established studios and show internationally. These cultural workers are significant contributors to the art machine that is building in Miami.
Off Leash is addressing the continuing work that our recent FIU BFA graduates. This exhibit explores what happens to the artists that leave the confines of art school and set out on their own. Some are balancing full time jobs and internships. These artists have impressed me with their quixotic studio practices and dedication to contribute to the art dialog not just locally, but internationally. Their artwork is not the usual thing; their artwork has something to say beyond the formal.
