His works derive less from thought, but more from a scattered receptivity and openness; a letting go of what's known.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br /> Harlan G. Hoffman is a local painter and photographer who received a BFA from Brooklyn College and a Masters in Philosophy from the New School in New York.&nbsp; He ran a very successful fabric design business in New York and worked with the visual merchandising departments of nearly every major department store in the U.S. and a few in Europe. His clients included: Barnes &amp; Noble, Saks Fifth Ave., Lord &amp; Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Macy&rsquo;s, Harrods (London), Eaton Co. Canada, World Savings, and Bonwit Teller. His fabrics and wall coverings are in the collection of the Smithsonian, through the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York.
