Karin Janssen Project Space is an independent exhibition space, run and programmed by Dutch artist Karin Janssen. It provides a platform for emerging artists, and aims to accommodate discussions with a local, national and international audience. Karin Janssen Project Space is dedicated to experiment, with a focus on, but not limited to, drawing. The project space aims to promote and support the production of new work; therefore the exhibitions aren’t curated as such, but are a result of a collaboration and cross-pollination between artists.
The project space is situated in a former hair dresser on Well Street in Hackney, East London. The space is evidently a part of the local community, nestled in between a family butcher and a pound shop, with a small weekly market on the doorstep. It is a non-commercial gallery, open free of charge to the public. Karin Janssen Project Space is used as a studio by Karin and presents a recurring programme of varied exhibitions, projects, discussions and events.
