Berlin-based sound artists Johnny Chang and Jamie Drouin present a new installation entitled Collected Gestures which combines elements of installation and live performance to explore connections between extraneous concert noise and the influence of ‘place’ in composition.
The central components of Collected Gestures are video documents of three concerts Chang and Drouin are giving in Geneva, Bern, and Warsaw during the proceeding week. The installation at SoundFjord will present 10 minute segments from these concerts, along with a fourth video documenting the artists performing within the neutral gallery environment. Additionally, on the first day of the installation, Chang and Drouin perform live in the exhibition space at random and unannounced times.
Collected Gestures creates an evolving single composition which simultaneously acts as concert diary, examines threads through their creative practice, and highlights the individual characteristics of the performance spaces, the audience, and outside noise.
Opening Hours: Sunday 17 Feb: 5-8pm; Monday 18 to Friday 22 Feb: 2-6pm
