Featuring the work of student artists, Eat My Hat sees the years second group show which brings together work that aims to challenge a wide range of issues, spanning from human cannibalism to gypsy culture. With appreciation for traditional values and materials, the group also has a strong emphasis on embracing new media and techniques in an extensive variety of painting, drawing, film, sculpture, print, sound and photography. With an unconventional approach to practice in their independent location away from London at Farnham UCA, the BA Fine Art course advantages from an enthusiastic, experimental and ambitious atmosphere. Working alongside one another in an encouraging yet challenging environment the show makes way for a simultaneously varied and thought provoking experience that aims to encompass the full range of ideas and approaches within the department.
Playing on the phrase "I'll eat my hat", the students push their confidence, motivation and dedication into their second year show, Eat My Hat, which takes place for the first time in the 10 Gales Gallery in Bethnal Green. Incorporated into First Thursdays, the gallery will also see a later closing time to coincide with this event.
