COHESION GLASS NETWORK'S ARTWORK EXHIBITION
July 6 – August 8, 2012
ZeST Glass Gallery is delighted to be hosting BLAST! 2012 - A selling exhibition of artwork from Cohesion Glass Network. 2012 marks Cohesion’s tenth birthday as well as the network’s recent re-launch, and in true celebratory style ZeST has invited ten of Cohesion's original artists to exhibit new artwork alongside a glass artist of their choice.
BLAST! 2012 is showcasing the artwork of eight of Cohesion’s prominent glass artists; Criss Chaney, Dominic Fonde, Zoe Garner, Ruth Lyne, Joanne Mitchell, Claudia Phipps, Roger Tye and Cate Watkinson. Each of these distinguished contemporary glass makers have invited a partner to participate in BLAST! alongside them, creating collaborative work, or developing themes and concepts which they explore.
Amongst them, architectural design and visualization specialist Chua Teng Yeow, works with glass artist Dominic Fonde to create a representation of the Greek mythological character of the Minotaur within the Cretan labyrinth. Architectural precision, meets mythical characterization, depicted with perfection in the use of glass to present organic, as well as constructional forms. Other artists are linked by their themes and concepts; Claudia Phipps, whose work ‘On the Wing’ captures the delicacy of the feather and wing in flight, has partnered June Kingsbury whose multi-media work also uses elements of the natural work illustrated in glass.
ZeST Glass Gallery is delighted to be curating such an aesthetically rich and diverse exhibition, featuring sculptural, wall mounted and installation artwork, which embody a broad spectrum of processes and techniques. The artistic pairings within the show, create an exciting dynamic of glass, artistic and otherworldly narratives.
