Darling Buds

6th May – 10th May

Private View 5th May

From shoot to bud to flower to fruit, spring is a time of renewal and fertility. Buds unfold and point towards the warm, sensual summer season ahead, a fleeting moment of sweet-scented fullness before decay.

The Darling Buds of May was not only a well known and much loved TV series from the 1980s but is also a saying that refers to the appreciation of what is fresh and new. Darling Buds exhibits ten experimental artists: Sadie Hennessy, Matt Gee, Daniel Bourke, Melissa Henderson, Sian Griffiths, Sonja van Kerkhoff, Fiona Long, Grace Adam, Rhiannon Hunter, Tom Stanley working in diverse mediums at different stages in their careers. A collection of striking and thought-provoking works and workshops examining what the season of May encapsulates to the human sprit.
