> DESCRIPTION

A one-night event-exhibition in the Wilkinson Gallery Project Space in which curator Jamie Stevens explores the activities of Henry Flynt, the New York based film-maker, philosopher and musician who has been active since the late 1950s.

Mapping out a broad range of coordinates relating to Flynt’s sustained yet distant relationship to various phases of radical art movements in New York, the exhibition seeks to flesh out a compelling and complex picture of the man most famed for his “hillbilly avant-garde” violin compositions.

Operating as an unauthorized contextual tour of Flynt’s awkward and ferocious presence over the past half century in New York, the evening will be comprised of materials relating to Flynt and a variety of his collaborators and comrades.

Curated by Jamie Stevens at the invitation of Morag Keil, whose exhibition ‘Group Show’ will be on display in the upper gallery at Wilkinson until 3 October 2010.
