My work is concerned with the potential of stereoscopic 3D (S3D)vision for the fine arts. When viewed with 3D glasses shapes and colors seem literally to emerge out of the canvas. I explore the interaction of the space displayed on the canvas and the binocular space in front of the viewer. My artwork tries to demonstrate that S3D images displayed on a small canvas have a far greater artistic potential than conventional 3D movies displayed on a big screen. It turns out that the display surface very much becomes a physical object, where the canvas acts like a membrane between the viewer and the depicted 3D world.
Frank Pohlmann is offering a wide variety of fine art prints for sale in the ArtSlant salesroom (here).
