Bad Behaviour show review Oct 2012   On the walk from Brixton train station to visit Bad Behaviour, past clothes stalls, car mechanics and food wholesalers which operate underneath the arches – including the wonderfully named ‘Just Yams etc.’ – I wondered how this group exhibition was going to position itself.  Would it attempt to engage with the context of Brixton, its independent spirit and history of rebellion and rioting  – or was the ‘bad behaviour’ of the title indicative of more gener... Plplplp Celeste Bousier-Mougenot: Free Bird!
by
Céleste Boursier-Mougenot at Barbican Art Gallery February 27th, 2010 - May 23rd, 2010
Posted 4/25/10

The Barbican's Curve space is currently home to a number of zebra finches and some electric guitars. The instruments, horizontally mounted at the bulbous end of the room, are live and, depending on the movement of the feathered composers present, emit sound that is briefly looped through a delay effects pedal positioned out of sight. Depending on the time you enter the show, you may encounter a sparse, Pink Floyd-esque soundscape, or something more akin to Led Zeppelin, should a bird come o... [more]

Plplplp Art Review: Aviary
by
Céleste Boursier-Mougenot at Barbican Art Gallery February 27th, 2010 - May 23rd, 2010
Posted 4/19/10

In a gloriously original and creative move, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s first UK solo exhibition taps into an audiovisual buffet of nature.  At the Barbican’s ‘Aviary’, visitors find themselves unwitting participants in a dance of nature as birds ‘perform’ in an art installation. ISA GENZKEN 'OPEN SESAME' at The Whitechapel Art Gallery 5th April - 21st June 2009 Admission free A turbulent new voice of  German sculpture launches the brilliantly expanded Whitechapel Art Gallery, re-opened to an eager audience in April.
