Hello frends! I am an artist. My roots take place in St.Petersburg, which has great architecture, culture and history that influenced me once and forever. Today, in the times of technical progress, mass production and new artificial materials I search for inspiration in the foundation of the Arts - old Russian Orthodox icons, Renaissance and folk cultures. I seek out look for new shapes and images within my themes using different materials, but my favorite is glass for its plasticit... [more]

Zakir Hussain’s latest works at Gallery SKE in Bangalore is a wonderful presentation of works to understand that originality can only be claimed as an unclaimed, seen as the other in the final omnipresent grand narrative of itself. The claim to originality that his works make in the beginning is by having a title ‘no title’. This is very interesting as the self proclamation of having no title negates the presence of the trace of the past. If there is any c... [more]
Adel Gorgy, "Permutation of Color...after Warhol" 60" x 84", Pigment Ink on Metallic Silver Medium, 2015
Crossing Lines, an exhibition featuring recent works by Adel Gorgy, Robert C. Morgan and Yun-Woo Choi at Able Fine Art NY Gallery, offers a fascinating glimpse at how three accomplished artists approach the challenging tasks of creating something new, pushing boundaries, and incorporating layers of meaning into singular works of art.
Adel Gorgy builds on the work he presented in his solo e... [more]
To some, the relationship between art and pop is pretty negligent. It exists in the value of Kanye West's design collection (est. $946,708 net worth) or the newsworthy copy of Millie Brown vomiting over Lady Gaga, but symbiotically? Yeah, I hear the groans. "Pretentious!"—they exclaim towards the latest Bjork multi-platform app or "turn this fucking shit off" as I'm forced to remove the needle from Trout Mask Replica. To these people, the clever, meaningless lyrics of early Eno and Ferry ar... [more]

Parra, the Dutch dude who draws weird psycho-sexual creatures and provides creative input for a brand hipsters would murder for, has a new show opening at Jonathan LeVine New York City tomorrow night. His last show at the gallery was in 2013. The images released for preview show the artist moving forward with his strident Post-Pop graphics on canvas, always repeated in his distinctive black-red-blue-white palette.
In many ways, Parra is the perfect Post-Pop figure, putting out commercial paint... [more]
The position of the Art Museum has become tricky, thanks to the rise of the independent cultural producer, pop-ups and nomadic curators, and the increasing popularity of free public art. In the same way Hollywood was broken up by agents in the 50s, the institute is under siege. To be relevant to a demographic spread—with rising ticket prices and all—art centers are having to work hard within their parameters.
In 2015, visitors expect more than just blockbusters with an educational fiber, s... [more]
Northside Independent Artists (or NIA) had two successful art shows in 2014, and we are poised to schedule a third show for mid-2015. We are a diverse collective of artists who reside on Chicago's North side. Our mediums range from oil paint to collage.
I am Dean Johnson, a co-founder of NIA. I serve on the Board of Directors for ChiPRC (http://chiprc.org/), which was our venue for the second show. I regularly teach art workshops there (http://www.deanjohnsonartstudio.com/events/). As Arts Co... [more]
One of the top 5 videoclips in 2014 at my YouTube channel is "Colors and Emotions: The other side of autism". The clip simply shows images from a workshop with autistic kids who reproduced some of my artworks from"Lacer/actions" Project (about torn and decomposed publicity posters, natural cracks and scratches, urban signs). The 2nd edition of this wonderful activity was curated by Patrizia Sapri who carried out as well as (in Anzio-Rome) an interesting exhibition ("Scratches, Cracks and Lac... [more]
This is a “Season’s Greetings card” dedicated to the limited-edition of a 3 silk scarves series I created for my "Lacer/actions Art Project”. The images of dirty, torn, and worn paper of the publicity posters on outdoor billboard have become silk scarves too! After to be already transferred on canvases, lithographic prints and aluminium my "Lacer/actions" artworks were transformed in silk textiles designs thanks to collaboration of Bruno Boggia Disegni (Como, Italy) who... People familiar with Adamo Macri’s portraits may well experience an aesthetic shock to see a picture of the artist with his eyes wide open. So many of his self-portraits depict the eyes averted, lowered, askance, or rarely looking directly at the viewer that I was taken aback by a recent picture, entitled Damo, 2013. There are a few other pictures in his Facebook oeuvre wherein the artist opens his eyes and stares out of the canvas, Self-Portrait, 2013, for example, but that is... [more]
This is my new work for “Lacer/actions” project. It’s a collage made on a table using 1.258 waste-paper pieces of torn and decomposed outdoor advertisings. I gathered every single paper pieces along the streets, after the old publicity posters were torn down from the billboards. I titled it : "The Symptomatology Of Instability (Waves On Waves)". It covers a wood table; sizes: cms 108 x 51. I think images speak better than words… So I created a videoclip I posted on Yo... [more]
