so it's been almost a month since I left the Parisian summer behind and returned to London. The Georgia Fee Residency was an amazing experience and I'm continuing to work with the projects stemming from both the residency and my original project.

My publication "You speak too fast for me" which I have been working on throughout the residency is now in it's latter stages of production. As well as including the photographs from the last two years taken in France, it will culminate with an epilogue on Paris.

("Louvre" from the series Postcards)

"Postcards" is another series that I have been working on that was conceived during my time in Paris. Playing with the ideas of the tourist postcard and ideas of alienation, I hope to release "Postcards" as a series of printed postcards in the near future.

Finally, another part of the project that I've been working on is the release of the short VHS film "1. 1.87" that I have been collaborating on with Harald Hutter. I am hoping that it will be released in conjunction with the launch of my publication (soon!)

I would like to say a huge thank you to Artslant for having me in Paris as the inaugural Georgia Fee resident and for all their help. <33

for further updates in the future -

Mike Kelley

 Thomas Glendenning Hamilton

noun /ˈektəˌplazəm/

  • The more viscous, clear outer layer of the cytoplasm in ameboid cells
  • A supernatural viscous substance that is supposed to exude from the body of a medium during a spiritualistic trance and form the material for the manifestation of spirits

so much paranormal activity going on around Paris. first, ectoplasm by Mike Kelley at the Centre Pompidou. then, ectoplasm by Thomas Glendenning Hamilton at the Nouvelle Vague exhibition at Palais de Tokyo and now, a little more localised ectoplasm, courtesy photobooth.

Paris seems to be in the process of shutting itself down and renewing itself over August. pictured; self-portrait outside the vacated Sonia Rykiel construction site/store in St. Germain.
