TAG, The Artists' Gallery, was established in 1993 by a group of emerging artists interested in exhibiting their work with peers who shared the same goals. TAG has since evolved into an organization whose members are supportive of each other and share the business responsibilities of owning and operating a successful contemporary art gallery on the Westside of Los Angeles. The organization is democratic, with an elected Board of Directors, and committees that attend to the demands of the business. All members participate in these agencies, and all pay the same dues for operation expenses, which includes a professional gallery director. Members of TAG are inducted by a careful screening process, including the final approval by the membership as a whole. Artists at TAG participate in Group Shows throughout the year, as well as an exhibition alone or with one or two other artists, according to a priority system established by the membership. Many members are also represented outside of the gallery, and are encouraged to participate actively in the art community at large. The gallery receives frequent coverage of shows in the Los Angeles Times, as well as local newspapers, and artists have been reviewed in art magazines, such as Art Review, Art Scene, and Gallery Guide. In addition, TAG brings educational presentations to the public in its "Salon Series" of guest speakers, including Frank Lloyd, Laddie John Dill, and Mumsey Nemiroff. Being a member of TAG can provide an invaluable opportunity for creative growth in a highly visible, yet supportive, gallery.
