***TEMPORARILY CLOSED DURING IT'S RELOCATION***
LUIS DE JESUS SEMINAL PROJECTS (aka Seminal Projects) opened in September 2007 in the Little Italy district of San Diego, California, and quickly established itself as one of the leading venues for contemporary art in the San Diego/Tijuana region, featuring a full-time program of consistently high-quality and conceptually rigorous exhibitions. The gallery is committed to supporting emerging artists who are working within a tradition of innovation and risk-taking, and who are deeply engaged in issues of contemporary art practice-from post-feminine/masculine and multi-disciplinary/new-media issues-to those with a particular resonance on the regional discourse, such as trans-nationalism and the border. In the last year, Seminal Projects has presented a number of highly anticipated exhibitions featuring some of the most provocative talent to emerge out of the UCSD and San Diego State MFA programs, including Lael Corbin, Brian Dick, and Allison Wiese (recipients of the San Diego Art Prize), David Adey, Jason Sherry, and Gustabo Velasquez (San Diego Art Prize Finalists). It has also exhibited-in both solo and group projects-a number of internationally recognized artists, including Laurel Nakadate (represented), Chris Ballantyne, Marcelino Goncalves, David Humphrey, Jon Pylypchuk, Andrew Schoultz, and performance/video artist Michael Smith. It has worked with prominent galleries, such as Peres Projects, Los Angeles; Danziger Projects, New York; and James Harris Gallery, Seattle, and has participated in the 2007 and 2008 Aqua Art Miami fairs, and the 2009 LA Art Show.
