Gabriel Aldaz spent endless hours researching, uncovering, visiting, and documenting the very American phenomenon of MUFFLER MEN (aka PAUL BUNYAN, aka TALL GUYS, aka CHICKEN BOY'S COUSINS)—you know, the 22-foot-tall fiberglass statues that sprinkle Route 66, and tourist spots across the US. The book (subtitled: The Log of a Cross-Country Scavenger Hunt), and the photographs that accompany it, will be introduced at the opening. Of course, there is a chapter on Highland Park’s own CHICKEN BOY (who is installed on the roof of the gallery!). Other Los Angeles tall guys featured are the GOLF GUY in Carson, and EL SALSERO in Malibu.
The opening is free, books available for purchase.
