Join us for the Miracle Mile Arts District's first quarterly art walk of 2010! Sophia Louisa Projects at PGLA-Miracle Mile will be open from 4 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, January 16th!
EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY marks the first solo exhibition at Sophia Louisa Projects featuring Los Angeles photographer Alan Kornfeld. A graduate of the University of California as Los Angeles (receiving both an A.B. and J.D.),Kornfeld keeps a keen eye for life's moments capturing exquisite images printed on silver gelatin paper. Kornfeld has exhibited his work in numerous group shows in Los Angeles, and was awarded the "Alma Ruiz Award" at the Open Call Los Angeles Exhibition.
Kornfeld's photographic images are reflective and realistic. At times he uses a Holga camera to manipulate images that are diffused abstractions. His work ranges from immediately accessible to curiously disconnected. His solo exhibition is a series of recent black and white works that explore the fatigue and ennui of daily life from Cuba to the back streets of Los Angeles, exuding beauty and mystery.
EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY will be part of the Miracle Mile Art Walk on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Regular gallery hours at Sophia Louisa Projects at Phantom Galleries LA - Miracle Mile are Thursday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm. The closing reception with the artist is Saturday, January 22nd from 6 - 9 pm.
