things we did & didn’t do is a series of new paintings by Dean Styers. Like 10^th generation photocopies, Styers strips his imagery down to the barest visual essentials. Consistent with Styers’ sarcastic, sometimes melancholy aesthetic, this new series juxtaposes themes of relationships and unrequited love - darkly conveying a singular pop art inspired sensibility.

Styers began making a name for himself in Boston in the mid-90’s while doing record and magazine covers, t-shirt designs, murals, and rock posters for bands such as Aerosmith. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1998, his work has been included in many gallery shows including Milo Gallery, James Gray Gallery, Robert Berman Gallery, Ruth Bachofner Gallery, Rico Gallery, Zero One Gallery. His work is included in many private collections across the country and in Japan, as well as in corporate collections, including The Cartoon Network.
