ALMARAZ / LEGACY, an exhibition of over 80 works selected from the Estate of Carlos Almaraz, is curated by Patrick Ela and Elsa Flores Almaraz. The exhibition celebrates the insights, contributions and influenc of this remarkable artist whose talents have only grown more significant and recognized in the two decades since his death.
ALMARAZ / LEGACY features many works that have never been displayed in public exhibitions. These include a large selection of original watercolors, ink drawings, gouaches and pastels as well as more familiar examples of graphic works that have become increasingly rare since the artist's death.
Works by Carlos Almaraz are featured in the permanent collections of several museums including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the National Museum of American Art; the Smithsonian Institution Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution; the Grunwald Center for Graphic Arts, University of California, Los Angeles; Otis / Parsons Art Institute; Museum de Arte Contemporaneo, Monterrey, Mexico; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the San Jose Museum of Art; the Mexican Museum, San Francisco; the Laguna Art Museum; the Alburquerque Cultural Center; and the Honolulu Museum of Contemporary Art.
