“The Best of Loop: Remote Viewing” explores the current state of video art practices worldwide, whether born out of contemporary studio practices or filmmaking methodologies. Curated by Paul Young, the author of “Art Cinema,” (Taschen, November 2009), and co-sponsored by InFocus, Loop Barcelona and Institut Ramon Llull this is a preview of an exhibit that will travel to the Centre d'art Santa Monica Museum in Barcelona (May 2010). It consists of nearly 40 single-channel works projected in an array of galleries and nearly 20 monitors placed throughout two 4,000 sq ft spaces. The artists involved include Nicolas Provost (the Netherlands), Shoja Azari (Iran), Markus Schinwald (Austria), Marc Aschenbrenner (Germany), Yang Fudong (China), Kiran Subbaiah (India), John Wood & Paul Harrison (UK), Jaime Pitarch (Spain), David Shrigley (UK), Nira Pereg (Israel) and Guillaume Pinard (France).
