Best known for her large scale fabric collages, this will be the first time Powell’s drawings, watercolors and collages on paper will be exclusively displayed in a solo exhibition. Infused with compelling and potent narratives, Powell’s provocative illustrations bear a disturbing resemblance to children’s stories gone awry.  Prolific in nature, Powell creates a world of animals and humans caught within a bent reality most often both tragic and humorous in tone. The imagery of these works on paper will allow the viewer an intimate glimpse of the characters and the ideas that have been woven into her larger scale fabric pieces.
