> DESCRIPTION

IdealEstate is a series of photographs portraying Hollywood bungalows, homes and mansions built in the early 1900’s, in an almost fantasy state. These homes were built during Hollywood’s Glamour Era, and are still living, breathing reminders of that time period. Larson has ‘idealized’ these homes as a vision of what was or could have been - presenting the images in black and white, just as the Glamour photographers of that era presented their portraits. While the images are idealized visually, they don’t have that welcoming ‘lived in’ feeling, and may appear formidable or foreboding. The viewer is left to ponder the question of which is more attractive for their life – the Idealized or the Real.
