I've built a new body of work for this show and am very excited to present
Through Those Portrait Eyes
There are new drawings and paintings (ranging from sketches and doodles to finished framed pieces) plastered on one wall along with a mountain of TV's displaying new video, stop motion and time lapse work underneath. My sister, Esther Samuels-Davis, (who titled the show) has a wall of her amazing etchings and words. From there, there are paintings ranging from 2 to 8 feet lining (and sometimes dripping down) the walls. I've pretty much built my own little world in the space.
The work is composed primarily of figures and portraits focusing on the moments we keep to ourselves. Cerebral and visceral, the images create a mood of melancholy and self-reflection.
The (re)opening on Sept 8 will be in conjunction with a NetteRadio event and will feature live bands and refreshments in the outdoor patio, the exhibit will be showing through the beginning of October.
