the dinner bell is ringing at truXtop gallery
this friday, where John Schlue is displaying his latest collection of
food inspired oil paintings and mixed media installations...and they're
delicious in more ways than one. he has taken old-timey recipes and a
fresh perspective and combined them in equal parts to create a stunning
show that is sure to satisfy the most voracious of artistic appetites.
here is what the artist has to say...
"I learned how to dance in the kitchen and I suppose this, and my affinity for food and the culture that surrounds it, inspired my ambitions to make the work I've been creating. I love to play with scale, elements of pop art, the old masters, the Baroque period as well as early religious art. It's important to me to challenge myself and this group of work presented me with the opportunity to do so, learning new techniques, adding elements of cooking and playing with sculpture." and to satiate your musical cravings, truXtop is excited to announce the triumphant return of MC Utmost Seductive Shitburgerlips! we had the pleasure of hosting this band awhile back, and the response was so amazing we've asked them to come back for a second helping! remember the yeti playing drums? or the impromptu interactive marching band that magically appeared? well, if you missed their first performance, those are just a few tidbits to whet your appetite for their next show. WHAT'S ON THE MENU for FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th: DINNERTIME: 7:30 pm APPETIZER: tasty nibbles concocted by truXtop and the artist DRINKS: mix-master Jen is back behind the bar!
