Emptiful: Recent Work by Jennifer Reifsneider turns the conundrums of desire and containment inside out. With an interest in forms and systems that fail in spite of our efforts to create and maintain them, Reifsneider’s sculptures explore space, weight, and transitions between trust, uncertainty, effort, and stillness. A hem of the gallery, a sublime accumulation of stitches, and meditations on the subtleties of luck create a balancing act of materiality and impermanence.
The Merlino Gallery is located on the CSU Long Beach campus, 1250 Bellflower Blvd, Long Beach, CA. Directions from 405/605/22 freeways: Exit 7th St./22 West. Turn right on East Campus Drive. On the left is Parking Lot 7 (free Sunday only); weekdays continue straight to metered parking in Lot 8A.
Gallery hours are Sunday, 5-7pm, and Tuesday-Thursday, 12-5pm. The gallery is closed on Monday, November 2 due to the state budget.
