> DESCRIPTION

SELECTIONS FROM THE IRVINE MUSEUM, was the name of our first traveling exhibition, organized in January, 1993. That introductory display featured about 60 of our best paintings, which represented a good sampling of the high quality that characterized our collection of California paintings.

Over the past seventeen years, our collection has grown both in number and representation. In keeping with that growth, we have decided to update our first publication and feature many of the subsequently acquired important California works that now comprise the museum collection.

Our new book, also entitled SELECTIONS FROM THE IRVINE MUSEUM, will herald a new traveling exhibition that will tour museums throughout our state. This book will also serve to document and reaffirm our dedication to the preservation, education and display of the very best examples of California’s rich artistic, cultural and historical heritage.
