> DESCRIPTION

Raphael, Milo, Irvington is Mallman’s observation of the eight telephone poles on her block in Los Angeles. Two years ago she moved to a new neighborhood and started to spend more time looking at her direct surroundings. While having previously thought of the poles and wires as a freestanding anonymous grid that traverses the local skyline; she now sees them as an extension of her house, her neighbor’s house, her block and her neighborhood. The telephone poles have become items that connect and literally ground and map everyone. Raphael, Milo, Irvington is about looking at the familiar in a new way, finding beauty and intrigue, and connecting with your surroundings.
