> DESCRIPTION

This group show gives voice to the frustration and fears associated with our deteriorating environmental conditions.  A wide variety of individual political and practical responses from the artists will be presented.

Santa Ana College is pleased to announce Gaia’s Lament: The Earth in Crisis, a group exhibition featuring internationally recognized painters, photographers, sculptors and installation artists who explore the deteriorating environmental conditions of the earth.  The exhibition opens with a reception on Wednesday evening, September 19, from 7:30 – 9:00PM.

Come see the works from established artists Kim Abeles, Jerry Burchfield, Stephen Callis, Darlene Campbell, Joyce Cutler-Shaw, Sant Khalsa, Betsy Lohrer-Hall and Barrie Mottishaw.

“These disquieting photographs address complex environmental and societal issues and reflect upon various ideas concerning our relationship with the river - - as place of community, economic resource, recreational site, natural habitat, sanctuary, and both source of life and destruction.”                      - - Sant Khalsa
