For the majority of the year, the Sylvia White Gallery reserves it’s walls for the highest caliber of established and time tested artists. During the summer months however, the Sylvia White Gallery extends a call for the best emerging artists in our nation in order to showcase the next wave of talent in the art world. The winners of this call will be featured in this year’s 2009 NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION, GROUP SHOW. From figurative to abstract, photography to mixed media, the Sylvia White Gallery invites you to explore our eclectic sampling of today’s contemporary artists.
GABE SHEEN’s photography references the biblical art of the past. Using religious themes in a contemporary and unconventional manner, SHEEN questions imagery commonly represented by western religions.
MELANIE MOORE BERMUDEZ’s abstract paintings investigate line and pattern. The repetition of her shapes pulls the viewer into the work creating an almost trance-like atmosphere.
JAMIE DIETZE creates images that are surprisingly balanced and harmonious despite their uneasy subject matter.
