Holly Boruck
Seedling Series

Moorpark College Gallery
September 29 - October 20, 2009
Gallery reception for the artist and artist lecture: Thursday October 1, 6:00-8:30pm

Holly Boruck's delicate drawings and porcelain works, her undulating sculptures, and her hypnotic animations express a fascination with the dormant potential of seeds. Intrigued by the communion between humanity and nature, she explores this exchange of energy.

The imagery in her work associates the intricate internal anatomy of the human body with that of seedpods, new growth and sprig structures. Her hybrid forms speak to our symbiotic and entropic interdependence with nature.

Holly Boruck has received a Durfee Grant for this exhibition, her first solo show. She has created slip cast porcelain sculptures and animation sequences specifically for her exhibition here at the Moorpark Gallery. She received her MFA in Painting from California State University Northridge in 2007. Some of her recent exhibitions have been at The Armory Center for the Arts, Brand Library, Bert Green Fine Art, Mark Wolfe Gallery in San Francisco and the Ferencvarosi Gallery in Budapest. She has taught at CSUN, Pierce College and The Armory Center for the Arts. She lives and works in the Los Angeles area.
