> DESCRIPTION
Originally commissioned by LAXART as a billboard project on La Cienega Blvd. (in the Culver City gallery district) , "Nightfall II" is intended to be provocative reminder that, though largely unrecognized, Los Angeles County had over fifty cases of lynching between 1850 and 1900.  Equally under recognized was the fact that many of those killed were of Mexican or Mexican American descent.

“Nightfall II” is from a larger photographic series entitled Searching for California’s Hang Trees. As a project it speaks to the lingering legacies of racial violence and their impact on many of California’s racial and ethnic communities.
