Video by Jordan Biren is survey
exhibition of video work from 1990 to 2006 by Los Angeles artist, Jordan
Biren. This exceptional multimedia exhibition explores the rugged
psychological terrain of life and death, feelings and family, being and
experience through imagery, sound, and text. Video includes ten video
pieces presented in a special screening room created for the
exhibition, a comprehensive full-color book, and an accompanying sound
piece. At a time when quickly moving imagery is nearly as common as the
nightly news, Biren's work stands out with its richly cinematic visuals
and provocative emotional content. To experience Biren's video works is
to enter into an alternate world, where the emphasis on shadow, depth,
and mystery bear the footprints of an exploration into being and loss.
Simultaneously, the artist's consistently rigorous interrogation of the
medium of video itself forms the backbone of Video.
