Javier Peres is very pleased to present Dash Snow in his first Los Angeles solo exhibition "God Spoiled A Perfect Asshole When He Put Teeth In Yer Mouth". The artist will present a new body of work that includes photographs, collages, sculptures, a video and installations.

When William S. Burroughs drug-soaked stream of consciousness first hit, its radical, inspired literary rhythms genuinely represented the counter cultural mores of a vital new underground. Best known for his insider photographic record, alternately poetic and gross, Dash Snow captures a crude reality of a thriving lower east side subculture emblematic of such Burroughs-esque dissidence.

In his more recent foray into collage Snow lucidly conveys the pathos of destruction transformed by the creative impulse. In a less documentarian style than his photographs, Snow's collage presents us with surrealistic icons fused together from degenerate emblems.

Transforming benign objects into the hallucinatory, with illusions of and allusions to hermeticism, surrealism and most obviously DADA, in the hands of the artist intoxicated perception turns to sinister implication. Appropriating outlaws as icons, politicians as villains; the image of the persona of Dash succeeds to the same transgression, a beautiful monster, Dash Snow is the ever-elusive valiant of a freedom gained through the constant exploration of experience from the banal to the horrific, the bizarre to the grotesque, the sacred cum profane.

Dash Snow (b. 1980) lives and works in NY and will be present for the opening.
