> DESCRIPTION
An exhibition of photographs and videos by emerging female artists who, in the works selected, incorporate the use of their own image, often in performative acts, to create or stage a variety of psychological circumstances.  Many of the works in this exhibition reflects the influence of the surreal as well as references to film, whether appearing as if capture stills from non-existing films or documentaries, or by demonstrating role playing through the creation of characters or alter-egos.  Informed by artists such as Francesca Woodman, enabled by the developments of feminist art, possessing familiarity with the staged imagery of Cindy Sherman, and rising from the female rich narrative photographic era of the late 1990s, these artists choose to explore and create new worlds which are distinctive as they are captivating.

Featuring works by Caitlin Atkinson, Liz Cohen, Roya Falahi, Carlee Fernandez, Kara Hearn, Desiree Holman, Susan Lee-Chun, Gina Osterloh, Shannon Plumb, Barbara Probst, Wendy Red Star, Daniela Steinfeld, Haruko Tanaka, Mathilde ter Heijne, Kristine Thompson, and Janaina Tschäpe.
