The Artists at the Topanga Canyon Gallery get in touch with their “wild” side for an upcoming show titled “Animal Instincts”. Although the title is open to interpretation, much of the artwork will feature the wildlife native to the Santa Monica Mountains, as this show will be a fundraiser for Topanga’s Nature of Wildworks wild life animal sanctuary and education center The Nature of Wildworks, a nonprofit 501(c)(3)
organization, was founded by Mollie Hogan in 1995 to bring to life her vision
of providing interactive wildlife educational programs to enhance the public's
understanding of nature and the environment while also ensuring lifetime
quality care for non-releasable wild animals. Topanga Canyon Gallery President Robyn Feeley has
been working with Hogan to create attention-grabbing artwork to help increase
awareness of the wildlife in our community. “I was first introduced to the Nature of Wildworks during a
presentation to my son Max’s 4th grade class for their community
service project, and was taken by the beauty and wild nature that these animals
exude.” says Feeley. “There is
nothing like the sound of the purr of a mountain lion to inspire an artist to
paint.” A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the
artwork will go directly to fund the care and feeding of the ever-growing
menagerie of animals that find their home in the sanctuary. Have you ever met an African Serval? Been up close and personal to a Red Tail Hawk? Looked into the eyes of a wylie Coyote? Come by, mingle with the artists and shake a paw or two at the Opening Reception on Friday August 14th, 6-8pm. Topanga Canyon Gallery is located at 120 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd./Pine Tree Circle #109.
