MEZZANINE GALLERY

This solo exhibition presents works by artist Michael Markowsky, including new paintings, drawings, and video by this Pasadena artist. All of the artwork included has been inspired by the artist's travels through the landscape. Markowsky begins by making drawings while riding inside or on top of moving cars, buses, trains, boats and airplanes. Afterwards, he transforms the drawings into dynamic paintings with vibrant colors contrasted with areas of exposed canvas.

Many of the paintings were created outside, in full public view at the courtyard of One Colorado, a historic mixed-use retail property in old town Pasadena. Markowsky interacted with families and individuals passing by, sharing his process and passion for art. This exhibition is made possible in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division.
