Diverted Destruction 2
This summer, the Loft at Liz’s
revisits the idea of Diverted Destruction. In this second annual show,
artists create art with found objects they’ve diverted from the landfill. Steve
Olson, Maddy Le Mel, Melinda Smith Altshuler, Lark, Sandy Schimmel Gold, Ruben Acosta, Ramiro Perez, Savva Kornyshev
and Juan Rosenfeldt incorporate
household trash like used teabags, crushed cans, disenfranchised bits of metal,
discarded mail and packaging into artworks designed to inspire you to look at
your refuse in a new way.
This annual show is very near
to our hearts at Liz’s. It’s obvious that recycling and reusing are very
important to us; the inventory of Liz’s Antique Hardware is comprised of
millions of pieces of metal that were diverted from the landfill or the scrap
metal yard.
PowerPlant Choppers will be on
display the night of the opening. Also the night of the opening and
closing we offer free remnants from the “artist boxes” at Liz’s.
During it’s run, from June 27 to September 15, the show will metamorphose,
as new pieces by different artists are incorporated into the space. We
invite artists to submit their found object work throughout the summer.
