MATERIAL WORLD exhibition features the works of seven talented, award winning, local artists from the Valley Artists Guild. Donna Geist Buch, Richard Herd, Barbara E. Jones, Judy Koenig, Carol Merrick, Terry Romero Paul, and Jude Wiesenfeld have joined together to create what promises to be an inspiring, stimulating and engaging exhibition.  Each of these seven San Fernando Valley-based artists have their own distinct personal style and strengths that sets them apart individually, but blends cohesively together in this very compelling and creative exhibition.

Curator, Donna Geist Buch says, "We've become a disposable society.  Art represents the events and culture of its' era.  Just as Picasso's Guernica represented what was happening during the late 1930's, "Material World" represents the events and culture of our time. "

MATERIAL WORLD is hosted by the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA). The exhibition opens Tuesday, July 14 and runs through Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Canoga Park Youth Center, located at: 7222 Remmet Avenue, Canoga Park, CA 91303.   Meet and greet the artists at their reception, taking place, Sunday, July 19, 2009, 3:00pm - 6:00pm.  Gallery Hours:  Monday - Friday: 10:00am - 4:00pm, Saturday: 10:00am - 3:00pm. There will be a Poets' Interlude during the Artists' Reception featuring the works of Richard Herd and Dori Marler

This exhibition is the brainchild of John Paul Thornton, President of the Valley Artists Guild and Art Education Coordinator with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Don't miss the opportunity to see these dynamic works of these accomplished artists, set in a community environment.  For more information regarding this exhibit, please contact: or call 818-346-7094.
