> DESCRIPTION

As an artist, Jeff Ribaudo has been exhibiting his work for the past fifteen years in and around Southern California. Ribaudo’s current body of work focuses mainly on the modern concept and utility of paper, an underappreciated medium, essential to everyday life. Ribaudo emphasizes that his work is “derived from the idea that paper, while fragile and temporary, is a substance regarded as almost useless in value, but vital to everyday life”. The work to be displayed at the Riverside Art Museum explores Ribaudo’s central theme of repetition using paper as his chief medium. In his work, Ribaudo strives to “make beauty from the most mundane and unexpected” by “combining the ideas of the frailty of paper with our dependence on it, along with the unnecessary overproduction of mundane items”.

Dollars To Doughnuts will include twenty-five original works by Jeff Ribaudo. Ribaudo’s mostly abstract work in Dollars To Doughnuts features bright geometric patterns as well collage elements. Along with his repetitive geometric work, Ribaudo also utilizesabstracted but familiar Southern California iconography, including skateboarding silhouettes. Apart from his professional work as a printmaker, Ribaudo, a graduate of Claremont Graduate University, currently teaches at La Sierra High School and Riverside Community College.
