Los Angeles Art Association and The Christopher Reeve Foundation present:“Access and Opportunity for Artists Challenged with Paralysis and Spinal Cord Injury” A very special art exhibition featuring the work of artists challenged with paralysis and spinal cord injury at Los Angeles Art Association’s prestigious Gallery 825, at 825 N La Cienega Blvd, on August 23 -25, 2007. Opening reception will be at Gallery 825 on Thursday, August 23, 2007, 6-9pm. LAAA believes that the visual arts offer a powerful means for people with disabilities to think, understand, communicate and create in new ways. This exhibition will acknowledge and celebrate the contributions that artists with paralysis and spinal cord injury make to the cultural and economic life of our community through their art.
LAAA Executive Director Peter Mays emphatically states: “As an 82 year old non-profit organization committed to providing greater access and equity for allSouthern Californian artists, LAAA believes that this important exhibition made possible by The Christopher Reeve Foundation will extend the benefits of our mission to artists with paralysis and spinal cord injury, thereby raising public awareness and appreciation of their talents and abilities.”
CRF Quality of Life Grants are awarded twice annually to programs or projects that improve the well-being of people living with paralysis, particularly spinal cord injuries. Awarded in 13 categories that span everything from health promotion to employment to sports and recreation, Quality of Life grants address many aspects of life, and are given to programs across the globe.
