Why do we love to be frightened? Groupshowhappening and Colin Roberts present The Haunted House Show.. a unique, haunted collaborative construction by some of L.A.'s most innovative artists, united by hallucinatory visions frighteningly indescribable, and yet eerily familiar. Here, sightings, sounds and installations connect the viewer with explorations into concepts of both fear and the belief that there exists realms beyond the physical which remain unexplainable to man. These two ideas are inextricably linked. This exciting show addresses the terrifying, the hidden, the mysterious... that which lies beyond man's dreams and nightmares, lurking, creeping, spooking and drifting in the dark shadows of a dwelling.
Classically, the haunted house is known as that dwelling; the shell, which contains both existence and decay, where these different forms of existence collide and cohabitate in sometimes terrifying ways. Entities, spirits, the paranormal; ultimately, the disembodied human, trapped between the physical and the spirit world, make their presence known to the living.
In The Haunted House Show, the ghostly art form is the relic which has become real through time, myth, documentation, imagination and finally creation.
The relic is materialized, and the space itself transforms, creating a setting in which fear of the unknown approaches the real and that which should not be seen becomes something compelling to witness.
