> DESCRIPTION
The beginning of the summer suggests capriciousness and adventure. Never stronger is the desire for surprise or for pleasant irony. Colors are brightly illuminated by the sun, everything and everyone will very soon sit very still in intense heat.
For this show, Carlos Mollura will make a tri-colored, partially transparent, inflated-plastic sculpture which extends from one of the skylights of the gallery to the floor. It is inspired by Italian ice cream and by light and space.
Chris Nichols will exhibit somewhere between five and ten assemblages, sculptures made by combining three found objects - three or four sculptures will be exhibited at a time. The components of these sculptures have been unearthed by Nichols in uncountable walks around Eagle Rock over the period of a few years. These sculptures are intended to be looked at as much as analyzed. Nichols may swap or rearrange his sculptures as the weeks progress.
Both artists live within 5 miles of the college.
