Paine, making his solo show debut Mourning Medication, opening June 23rd,

2007. Mourning Medication, collectively, is about questioning the human

condition rather than an attempt at answering it. The inherent dichotomy

embedded in Mourning Medication suggests that pain and suffering are,

inevitably, unavoidable; and yet without the pain, along with the lure and

temptation of physical, emotional, chemical and mental crutches, true growth

has a hard time finding fertile ground. Kevin exercises a strong

traditionalist foundation in photography, and along with layering

techniques, including hand-colored negatives, etching, ink, oil and

texturing, has created a cohesive, psychologically stimulating body of

imagery which is intended to invoke reflection and arouse visual and

emotional stimulation. Mourning Medication is a reminder of the promise of

change. Above all, Mourning Medication is a celebration of hope.
