ruXtop gallery is looking for artists to create a flag, and the doors are wide open on this one. reinterpret the american (or any other official) flag, create a flag for your thoughts and beliefs, make a flag for yourself, whatever you like. we are looking for interesting ways that the common understanding of symbols, colors, and patterns can invoke feelings in the viewer. we don't want to give too many examples to influence your final product....just run with it! with over 50 (and up to 75) different artists involved, come be a part of our largest show to date....this exhibit will be incredibly exciting to behold once it's all up in the gallery! we have pre-made 75 wood panels that are the dimensions of the US flag, though scaled down quite a bit (about 1'X2'), so stop by the gallery to pick up your panel and get to work! artists MUST use the panel that we provide to keep a homogeneous size to the pieces, but that's the only common factor. and if we aren't familiar with you and your work already, please bring over a sample or two of previous artwork. space is limited, and we're gonna have to make some choices on who gets their hot little hands on a panel, so the earlier you come by the better! walt hall (co-curator) will also be at the hive opening tonight with panels to distribute, and that would be a great time to connect with us and pick up your piece! drop off is july 5th, at truXtop gallery, between 2 and 8pm. we are located at 2876 rowena ave, la, ca 90039 (for you yahoo mappers). the opening is on july 6th, 7pm...but more info on that will come out soon. this show is co-curated by kari jewell and walt hall, and you can call the gallery with any questions at 323.661.1665. thanks, good luck, and we are very excited to see what you create!
