Inaugurate a New Series of Meetings to
Discuss Current Art in L.A.

LOS ANGELES: "Contemporary Art Conversations," an innovative new series of dialogues about art, artists & exhibitions will be inaugurated on Sat¬urday, April 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a Reception from 7-8pm at Jack Rutberg Fine Arts, 357 North La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles.
This series is co-sponsored by AICA USA (International Association of Art Critics). Conceived by art historian and critic Betty Ann Brown, with critics Peter Frank and Anna Meliksetian, "Contemporary Art Conversations" will be a bi-monthly series of dialogues scheduled to meet at venues in the Los Angeles area, including art galleries, museums, and non-profit spaces. Each event will feature a panel of experts who will begin with conversation about three or four selected art exhibitions and/or issues.
This first April 25 panel will feature critics/curators Andrew Berardini, Marlena Donohue, Peter Frank and artist, writer, and arts-organizer John O'Brien, with Betty Ann Brown acting as moderator. The panelists will begin the dialogue with comments on current exhibitions:
•Hans Burkhardt Paintings of the 1960s - Jack Rutberg Fine Arts
•Ruth Weisberg Selected Works - Jack Rutberg Fine Arts
•Art of Two Germanys/Cold War Cultures - Los Angeles County Museum of Art
•Nine Lives: Visionary Artists from L.A. - Hammer Museum
After initial comments by the panelists, audience participation will be encouraged.
