We are delighted to recognize this years recipients of the Los Angeles Regional Scholastic Art Awards of 2009. Armory Center for the Arts and our partners Ovation TV, Time Warner Cable L.A., CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP), The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, and Scholastic Inc., are pleased to honor the creative talents of local teenagers in the arts.

By earning recognition in The Awards, these students have reached a remarkable milestone, demonstrating that they are among the region’s most talented young artists! All Gold Key awarded works and portfolios will be reviewed in the national judging in March. Additionally, five works were selected as American Visions Nominees—the “best-in-show” award for the Los Angeles area.

This year, more than 140,000 works were submitted nationally to The Awards for review by panels of arts professionals. In the Los Angeles Area, close to 1,200 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art Awards of 2009. 77 Certificates of Merit recognize excellence in the visual arts. 47 Silver Keys recognize high honors in the region and 86 Gold Keys were bestowed on the most accomplished works in the region.
