Offramp Gallery is pleased to present Olly Olly Oxen Free, an outdoor group sculpture exhibition curated by Kristi Engle, from September 14 - October 12, 2014. There will be an opening reception on Sunday, September 14 from 2-5pm.

There is a certain genre of film that uses a first person POV, pulling back a palm frond to reveal a fantastical and/or wondrous scene or a close up of a map that then pans to the exact location where “X marks the spot.” Inspired but the work of Charles Simonds, Olly Olly Oxen Free strives to engender that euphoric feeling of discovery and the delight that accompanies the unearthing of hidden treasure.

Artists include: Margaret Adachi, Michael Arata, Marshall Astor, Annie Buckley, Sydney Croskery, Davis & Davis, Katie Herzog, Noel Korten, Rebecca Lowry, Mary J Mallman, Amy Maloof, Thinh Nguyen, Jeremy J. Quinn, Cindy Rehm, Michelle Rozic, Cathy Stone, David E. Stone, Carrie Ungerman.

Kristi Engle studied Italian Baroque painting before she became more preoccupied with contemporary art. She ran the Kristi Engle Gallery for seven years, in downtown Los Angeles and then Highland Park. Click here to see an archive of the gallery’s history. Kristi lives in Northeast Los Angeles with her husband and their dog. The artists that have influenced her the most are Caravaggio and Bruce Naumann.

The exhibition will run concurrently with Claire Keith: PaintingsMinoru Ohira: Sculpture and will be part of ArtNight Pasadena on Friday, October 10 from 6-10pm
