VENICE FAMILY CLINIC TO HOLD 35TH ANNIVERSARY VENICE ART WALK & AUCTIONS

Background:       Venice Art Walk & Auctions was founded by artists and volunteers in 1979 to raise funds for Venice Family Clinic. This event is the Clinic’s largest community fundraiser, raising over $700,000 in critical funds for 24,000 low-income, uninsured and homeless people throughout the Westside of Los Angeles.  

The event has also helped catalyze Venice’s legendary arts scene. This milestone anniversary serves as a retrospective and commemorates the artists that have supported the Clinic and this event over the past three decades and are now some of the most iconic contemporary artists in the world.  The event also showcases work of some of the hottest emerging artists like: Michelle Andrade, Natalie Arnoldi, Clara Balzary, Douglas C. This event is free and open to the public and features a highly anticipated 350 piece art auction, live entertainment, and an impressive lineup of gourmet food trucks. Participants can purchase tickets to highly regarded Architecture Tours that the Clinic holds throughout the year and/or view exclusive art studios that will be featured on the day of Venice Art Walk & Auctions.

You’ll never listen to music the same way again! UCLA Professor of Musicology Robert Fink shares his presentation on the art of "musicology"-the process of making connections between what goes inside a piece of music and how it relates to the outside world.  This dynamic talk traces the interception of these two paths into pop and rock music from the 1960’s until today.

Tours: Venice Family Clinic holds three highly regarded Architecture Tours throughout the year that explore architecturally significant homes across Los Angeles. Join award-winning architects for self-guided and/or docent-led bus tours of the city’s most remarkable homes.   

 

Explore the eclectic and ever-changing beachside community of Venice on our self-guided architecture tour. Architects will be on hand to share the inspiration behind their designs.  (tickets $125). May 10th.

About Don Bachardy:

Don Bachardy was born in Los Angeles in 1934. He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Slade School of Art in London. His first one-man exhibition was held in October 1961 at the Redfern Gallery in London. He has since had many one-man exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston and New York. More recently, he had an exhibition at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA 2004-2005.

His works reside in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the M.H. de Young Museum of Art in San Francisco, the University of Texas, Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery, San Marino, California, the University of California, Los Angeles, the Fogg Art Museum of Harvard University, Princeton University, the California State Capitol Building (official portrait of Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr), the Smithsonian Institute, and the National Portrait Gallery in London, England. He is represented by the Craig Krull Gallery in Santa Monica. 

 

About Cameron Gray: 

Born in Geneva in 1980, Cameron Gray lives and works in London, Basel, and Los Angeles.  Gray graduated magna cum laude from Bruce High Quality Foundation University. His recent exhibition at Mike Weiss Gallery was an Artforum.com Critics Pick for New York. Gray's work is included in the Ludwig-Forum für Internationale Kunst in Aachen, Germany; the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and 17 other prominent collections.  Cameron Gray is currently represented by the Mike Weiss Gallery in New York.

 

Venice Art Walk logo:  Legendary graphic designer, John Van Hamersveld, who created theiconic “Endless Summer” poster created the Venice Art Walk & Auctions logo.
