ACME. is pleased to present a solo exhibition of selected paintings by Roger Herman, a long respected artist and professor in Los Angeles. The exhibition will feature 3 large-scale paintings all from 1990-1992, and more recent paintings on paper mounted on linen that continue Herman's further investigation into pure, rigorous abstraction and print-making techniques. There is a fluidity of calligraphic gestures that link the three early large-scale paintings with the new smaller paintings. Also included in the exhibition will be a selection of recent "book paintings," a traditional format that the artist has employed, presenting a more intimate viewing experience and the paintings as objects.
